Introduction:
Biotechnology department started academic four-year degree program in 2022 with the objective to transform life through excellence in education and research. The department strives to provide a promising environment to pursue academic and research activities.
Biotechnology is multidisciplinary field with profound impact on human life. It can be termed ‘technology of hope’ with vast applications in health care system, agriculture, food production and safety, climate change and environment protection. It has revolutionized the fields of diagnostic, therapeutic and personalize medicines.
Excellent career opportunities awaiting biotechnology graduates in wide range of fields like food industry, pharmaceutical industry, agriculture industry, fermentation industry, forensic agencies, research organizations like CEMB, PCSIR, colleges through Punjab Public Commission and foreign universities as researcher and faculty member.

Aims and Objectives:
The aim of BS biotechnology program is to prepare elite class science graduates and researchers to fill up the existing vacuum of well-equipped manpower in the sectors of Health, agriculture, industry and education. Broad term objectives of the program are:
- To encourage the future professionals for equipping themselves with the latest Biotech tools and techniques.
- To stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving skills by providing them opportunity to participate in Seminars, Model competition, presentations.
- To incorporate the value of education, honesty, integrity, punctuality, discipline and professional ethics.
Career Opportunities:
Graduates can work as a biotechnologist in a wide variety of fields, including: biomedicine, forensics, Pharmaceutical development, Quality control/assurance, Environmental protection, Agriculture and food production. Graduates can also have scope as a researcher in public institutions such as the PAEC, PCSIR, universities, hospitals and in private industry. With experience, graduates will become national and international leaders and can be involved in exciting projects, such as the sequencing of the human genome.
