Department of Botany

Introduction:

Botany-the essence of life-science-is being taught in this college as major subject for BS (FYDP). The department of botany aims at promoting an integral understanding for utilization of plants and to explore underlying mechanisms for promoting eco-friendly environment. The up to date syllabus covers basic as well as applied subjects. The department also undertakes field visits to explore floral wealth. The final year students are given opportunity to carry out research work in various institutions such as Punjab University (PU), Government College University (GCU), Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) and Jinnah garden.

Aims and Objectives:

The aim of department is to produce highly qualified botanists who have vast knowledge of applied plant sciences. The objectives are to enable students to:

  1. Develop aptitude towards plant diversity.
  2. Develop basic skills to identify plants and have knowledge of their economic importance.
  3. Boost confidence to participate in various workshops, seminars, walks, conferences and training Course.
  4. To exhibit their skills in science models, poster and flower arrangement competitions etc.

Career Opportunities:

Graduates of BS Botany can pursue their career in various fields like teaching, CSS, Forest Department, Environmental Protection Department, PCSIR, NIAB and NIBGE Faisalabad.

Minor Subjects:

Chemistry, Zoology and Geography.
