Introduction:
Department of English Language and Literature is the most prestigious department of Government Graduate College for Women GuIberg, Lahore. We take pride in our skilled and highly qualified faculty members who work very hard to raise the standards of English Language Skills to meet the global corporate challenges of 21st Century. The department has 20 faculty members out of which four have a doctorate degree and ten have M.Phil degrees.
A quality higher education system is essential to the successful development and functioning of an open and democratic civil society. Aims and Objectives:
Our objective is to impart quality education in order to produce confident, skilled and proficient users of English language. Based on academic knowledge, the aim is to train the aesthetics and functionality of the language to create multidimensional, highly cultured individuals who are capable of accomplishing independent critical thinking, communication skills using Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and research work. Hence, through powerful blend of knowledge based on theory, practice and research both in linguistics and literature the standards of English Language Skills are raised to meet the new global, demand-driven corporate and technology-based challenges of the 21st century.

Since English language is a source of most of the communication in the corporate world and communication technologies, it is imperative to hone English language learning skills. English Literature broadens mental horizons and critical thinking. Our graduates are empowered to become useful communicators in various fields. Admissions are based only on test. The criterion to appear in test is 60% overall marks. Course outline will be provided at the time of admission.
