Introduction
Mandate of the physics department, Govt. Gulberg college for women (GGCW), Lahore, typically revolves around advancing knowledge in the field through research, fostering a deep understanding of fundamental principles, and preparing students for careers in academia, industry, or government. This often involves conducting cutting-edge research, providing high-quality education, training, and promoting collaboration and interdisciplinary work within the scientific community. We have well qualified faculty members, including two PhD and five MS, with specializations in the fields of plasma physics, material, nanotechnology, medical and solid-state physics.

Aims and Objectives
- To provide new standards of education and train the students to undertake different challenges in the field of physics.
- To promote research based studies.
- To provide students with a strong foundation in Physics and learn methodologies that emphasize the application of relevant subjects in the areas of Physics.
- To provide students with skills to enter the workplace well-prepared in the core competencies such as:
- Experimental and data analysis techniques.
- Oral, written and multimedia communication skills.
Career Opportunities
Employment prospects in physics are generally very good. After studying BS-Physics, students can pursue careers in research and development, engineering, education, business and military. Internship opportunities are also available to the physics students.
