Introduction:

Government Graduate College for Women, Gulberg started BS (FYDP) in Urdu literature in year 2019. The aim of the department is to develop national language and inculcate research culture in the students through its highly qualified faculty holding Ph.D. and M.Phil qualifications.
Department of Urdu offers a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities to inculcate a spirit of critical approach in students and develop capability to look beyond parochial surrounding to place themselves in wider socio-economic, cultural, political and ideological environment.

Aims and Objectives:

  • To provide foundation knowledge of the structure of Urdu Language and Literature to attain quality standards of education in national language and literature.
  • To produce awareness in the students regarding the development stages of Urdu Zuban-o-Adab for their practical utility in national and international scenario.
  • To make students aware of the contemporary literature written in Urdu language through competent highly qualified faculty.
  • To increase the ability of students in modern research techniques.
  • To enhance students skills of effective communication through written and spoken exercises.
  • To prepare the structure for practical life with the reference utility of Urdu Language and literature.

Career Opportunities:

The graduates after the completion of their degree program have vast career opportunities which are but not limited to as teachers, electronic and print media industry, as news readers, anchor persons, script writers, columnists,  translators and authors of fiction and novels etc.
