Department of Zoology

Introduction:

The Zoology Department of the college was established in 1986, and it started running the BS Zoology program in 2010. The Zoology Department’s faculty comprises of highly qualified, dedicated, and professionally trained teachers. The faculty aims to inculcate scientific expertise and ethical norms amongst students so that their students are transformed into knowledgeable and valuable citizens. The subject of Zoology is of enormous value in the world today where natural resources are under constant threat. Zoology has diversified into numerous fields, such as evolution, anatomy, physiology, behavior, microbiology, paleontology, wildlife, fisheries, ecology, molecular biology and genetics etc. As a science, it involves wide-ranging study approaches and subjects from microscopic and nano scale biological entities to giant animals and natural communities.

The intention and purpose of BS program in Zoology is to set a stage for the training of potential students. The objective of this program is to create an Academic vision concerning development of Intellectual student’s use of moderate Teaching resources and check on academic integrity. It is strongly believed that BS in Zoology will diversify and widen the student’s way of life.

Aims and Objectives:

  • Impart general understanding and conceptual clarity of basic concepts of the subject of Zoology.
  • Equip the students to grasp the necessary knowledge of the subject area from classical as well as modern dimensions and current trends, which will enable them to compete and establish superiority at the national and international levels.
  • Train the students to acquire a critical approach toward practical problems and inculcate problem-solving capability independently through developing their cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains.
  • Generate valuable human resources compatible with the national as well as global challenges.

Career Opportunities:

Graduate zoologists from this college are working in key positions in various necessary government and private organizations. Nevertheless, new jobs are routinely generated to offer essential roles to the fresh graduates in different sectors and departments, such as education, research, wildlife, fisheries, natural history museum, ecology/environment, etc.
