Introduction:

The Department of Chemistry is proud of its reputation as a distinctive high performance. It offers a learning-friendly environment where faculty and students work together and facilitate each other. Over the past decades, our department has produced graduates/researchers of noble mind to contribute proactively in the international and local communities as well as in their homes and families. We stimulate young minds and encourage them to extend excellence beyond the classroom in an ideal environment to grow, excel, and face life long challenges. At present there are 49 students working on innovative research projects in all fields of chemistry. The department also conducts seminars and various co-curricular activities on regular basis to sharpen the raw talents of the students.

With depth knowledge of practical chemistry they can play a significant role in diverse commercial, industrial and academic activities.

Department of Computer Science

Introduction:

The Computer Science Department of Govt. Graduate College for Women Gulberg was established in the year 2004. The computer lab is fully equipped with the latest computers and highly skilled technical staff. With the onset of rapid economic growth and technological advancements across the globe, the market-oriented subjects have emerged as an essential need for the students to explore new vistas of knowledge and to cater to the nation’s development. Therefore, Information technology is the fastest growing sector all over the world. Database professionals and Computer Programmers are highly demanded in all competitive markets. Now, it is the call of the time to equip our youth with the latest and fast changing technology of computer education. Our future would depend on whether we are users or manufacturers of computers.

A computing degree opens up a range of IT careers from applications development to web design. Graduate of Computer Science field may pursue their career in various fields such as Software developer, Web developer, IT project Manager, Information security analyst, System Architect, Mobile App developer, Al Engineer and Computer Hardware Engineer. The students will gain many technical and non-technical skills which are highly valued by employers, from leadership to programming.

Department of Education B. Ed. Honors Secondary (1.5 Years)

Introduction:

Education department is launching the distinguished and innovative evening program to fulfill educational demands in 21st century. Keeping this in view, Department of Education has designed (1) B.Ed. Honors Secondary: a four­ year program is comprised of eight semesters and (2) B.Ed. one and a half years program comprises three semesters. Indeed, these programs are the utmost requirements of job market. This will also equip students to pursue higher education and careers to meet national and international challenges in the rapidly changing world.

Education department has been working in B.Ed. four years (Morning) program since 2010 and approximately 400 students have been passed out. It is believed that through this productive endeavor of competent faculty members, the students will become critical thinkers, reflective practitioners, visionary leaders, competent managers, optimistic mentors and confident human beings in diverse spheres of professional and social life.

Aims and Objectives:

Our aim is to enhance learning and attainments through evidence-based researcher, informed leadership, reflective practitioner and skill oriented professionals. Moreover, our focus is to develop character, values and vision in every student for performing an assertive, constructive and optimistic intellectual role in society.

  • To strengthen the ability of students in management, administration, policy making, planning and problem solving.
  • To promote the essential and significant skills to meet the challenges of globalization.
  • To enhance the action research oriented critical thinking, reflective practices and innovative conceptualization amongst students.

Career Opportunities:

Qualified students of B. Ed. Honors secondary (FYDP) and B. Ed. (one and a half years) programs can join teaching, administrative and managerial professions. Students can also appear for civil and provincial services exams. Furthermore, they can be enrolled in M. Ed., M. Phil and Ph.D. programs for higher education.
