Department of Urdu
Government Graduate College for Women, Gulberg, launched the BS (FYDP) program in Urdu literature in 2019. The department aims to promote the national language and cultivate a research-oriented culture among students, guided by a highly qualified faculty with Ph.D. and M.Phil. qualifications. The Department of Urdu offers a range of curricular and co-curricular activities designed to foster a critical approach in students and help them gain the ability to understand and analyze the broader socio-economic, cultural, political, and ideological contexts beyond their immediate surroundings.

To develop a deep understanding of the structure and rich heritage of Urdu language and literature, producing graduates who are equipped to meet the highest standards of education and research. The department strives to instill a critical and practical understanding of Urdu, enabling students to contribute effectively to both national and international contexts.
